Wholesale Cotton Tote Bags: A Guide to Choosing the Right Model

Wholesale Cotton Tote Bags: A Guide to Choosing the Right Model
Short answer

When buying wholesale cotton tote bags, you first decide what the bag will be used for; fabric, size, print and the number of varieties are chosen according to that decision, and quantity is settled last with the quote. For jobs where the bag will be reused, cotton; for light, high-volume distribution, a stitched nonwoven or ultrasonic nonwoven bag stands out. Karaca Çanta has made these bags without intermediaries in its own workshop in Konya Karatay since 2013.

In wholesale buying, the most expensive mistake is realising after ordering that "this does not suit us". In a large-quantity job, when the size is a bit narrow or the fabric a bit thin, it is hard to fix; so the product decision should be made before the price discussion.

This page covers the product, not the process: you will find the order in which to make decisions, whether to buy a single model or a variety, how to plan the quantity and the questions to check before asking for a quote.

What Should the Order of Decisions Be for Wholesale Cotton Tote Bags?

Making decisions in the order in which they affect one another, rather than at random, makes the job easier. Intended use determines the fabric, the fabric the print options, and the size the print area. The quantity and variety plan come last, because they cannot be calculated until the earlier choices are settled. The table summarises this order and the question to ask yourself at each step.

Let us add that the order is not a rule: sometimes the logo and number of colours decide the fabric, and sometimes a fixed size requirement overrides everything. Still, starting the decision from a single point makes the quote and approval easier; it is enough to leave the line you are unsure about blank and write it in the request.

Fabric Choice: Cotton, Stitched Nonwoven or Ultrasonic?

Raw cotton and coloured fabric are considered for jobs where the bag is expected to be used again and again and a gift feel is wanted. Stitched nonwoven bags, made by stitching nonwoven fabric, and ultrasonic bags, joined by ultrasonic welding, stand out in light, high-volume distribution. On our product pages, stitched nonwoven bags are made from 100 gsm nonwoven fabric and ultrasonic models from 60 gsm cream-coloured fabric.

If you are undecided, you can ask for a quote on two fabrics together with the same size and print; seeing the difference side by side often ends the debate. A detailed comparison of the fabrics is in our materials guide; here we cover only their effect on the wholesale buying decision. When deciding, also look at how the bag folds when empty; this also affects carton volume during distribution.

Single Model or Several Varieties?

You may want bags carrying the same logo in different sizes or different colours: for example one size for customers, one for staff, one for event attendees. As varieties multiply the order becomes flexible, but the description also gets longer; so each variety needs to be written separately in the request. Whether the varieties will be assessed separately or together and the effect on operations are settled at the quote stage.

Starting with a single model also reduces the chance of error in the first order; because design approval, print inspection and delivery tracking run on one product, it is easier to follow. You can think of adding varieties as a second stage, after you have approved the size and print of a single model. The questions below help you see whether the need for variety really exists and prevent unnecessary variety from making order management harder:

  • Do the groups receiving the bag carry different things from one another?
  • Will the different varieties be distributed at the same time or in sequence?
  • If a single bag is enough for all groups, is it worth producing varieties in terms of budget and schedule?
  • Will the logo appear in the same position and the same colour on every variety?

Quantity Plan: One Batch or in Parts?

The quantity decision is made from two directions: total need and purchasing pattern. Will you buy the bags in one go or in several batches? As quantity grows, the cost per bag generally falls, but the effect varies with the job and we do not give an exact rate. In buying in parts, each batch has its own plan, so writing the total need and the batch arrangement together makes the quote sound.

The table below shows what information is useful to write in a quote request in common purchasing scenarios. What they all share is writing the event or campaign date and the total need from the start; if there is a chance of reordering in future, adding that too lets you plan whether the design and size will stay fixed.

What Does the Catalogue Say About Size and Print Decisions?

Among the 171 products with a stated size in our catalogue, the most common sizes are 50x40, 30x40 and 45x35; for size details, you can see our sizes guide. On the print side, the product pages show mostly one-colour, two-sided models. This distribution is not a recommendation, only an indication of common choices; what really decides is what the bag will carry and the structure of your logo.

In wholesale buying, the number of colours in the logo changes both the look and the quote. A plain one-colour logo is the easiest solution for both legibility and order management; for a coloured design, which method is suitable is decided together once we see the logo. If you are considering another print method, you can ask at the quote stage.

Ready-Made Model or Custom Production?

You can choose one of the models on the product pages and order with your logo, or ask for custom production by setting the size, colour and handle yourself. With a ready-made model the decision is quicker because the size and construction are known. With custom production the bag fits your need exactly, but you need to spend more time on size and design decisions.

If you find the model closest to your need and want to change only one detail, write it together with the model name. Whether the change can be made and on what terms is settled at the quote stage. We have explained the steps of custom production, design approval and logo preparation in a separate guide; after making the decision on this page, you can move on to it.

Frequently asked questions

The choice depends on how the bag will be used: for jobs that will be reused again and again and where a gift feel is wanted, cotton; for light, high-volume distribution, a stitched nonwoven or ultrasonic nonwoven bag is considered. If you cannot decide, you can ask for a quote on two fabrics in the same size together.
